Subscribe to Email - quietriotshow.ca/subscribe | VoiceMail - www.quietriotshow.ca After disappearing for a few weeks, we're finally back and there's a reason why.

Life has been relentless. Tim opens up about feeling like he just can't catch a break anymore, while carrying the weight of a situation he can't fully talk about. At the same time, Tommy finally reveals the secret he's been hinting at for months... after nearly 16 years, he's officially leaving the security of his career to bet on himself.

Why would someone walk away from a stable, well-paying job? And what does that decision do to your mental health?

We also share why this is our last episode before our summer break, what's changing behind the scenes at The Quiet Riot Show, and why this goodbye turned into one of our most emotional moments yet.

[00:00:00] I'm excited for your trip. I'm upset you're leaving. I'm gonna miss you. I'm having a pretty hard time. I'm gonna cry right now. I'm having a pretty tough go and like I've been vocal with a couple of people lately about like, fuck Tommy's leaving. I know. And that's gonna be pretty tough. You know I'm just a phone call away. I know. This isn't on you. It's nothing. It's just... Come here. Come here. Come here. Come here. Come here. I'm giving you a hug. But like, I'm so excited you're going. I'm just like, yeah, selfishly I'm just like, fuck.

[00:00:29] Yeah, it's gonna be... Fucking Tommy's leaving. Well, you're part of my life, my everyday life. Like, you and I share... Oh, I've never cried on this show. There we go. Perfect. Oh, fuck. You and I share lots of things. We share some work. We share struggles. We share our wins. We share our fun times together. Yeah, it's gonna go by fast but I know like you got some shit going on right now so... Fuck. What the fuck? We'll have... This is bullshit. We'll have... Cut this out. No.

[00:01:00] No, I'll miss you and I'm so happy for you guys and it's great. Thank you. And like, I hope you have the best time because like... Thanks, man. Your life's gonna look so different when you get home. Yeah. Welcome back to the Quiet Riot show.

[00:01:36] Off to a good start. Yeah, we have a long pre-show, call it. Maybe I'll throw it in the back. But yeah, it's been a fucking while. It's been like probably four weeks since we released an episode. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. And this is if I get to it still tonight and release it tomorrow. Maybe. Yeah. Well, you'll get it when you get it. Yeah, it's fine. Life has been absolutely fucking insane and we just didn't have time to do it. So... Sorry, but not really.

[00:02:04] Sorry, but not sorry. Yeah. Life happens and we just like... Yeah, we have other priorities. So... But we're here for one quick episode and then we're gone again for a couple months. Yeah, we're taking a summer break. Yeah, tell me why. Yeah, well, I'm leaving on a jet plane. Okay, let's get into that. But first, check in. Yeah, let's check in. Till we get to the meat and potatoes.

[00:02:39] What number are you, Timothy? Oh, fuck. Two. Two? Yeah. Okay. And you've been a two for... A while. A while. Yeah. How much can you share with us? What makes you a two these days? Because I know we talk about like, you know, things... We need to get things off our chest, right? And now there are certain things that sometimes we're not ready to share. Just not time. Sometimes it's not your news to share.

[00:03:09] And then sometimes it's not our news to share, right? But like... I just... Man. And... How do I say this? You know when good things happen... Bad things happen to good people? Yeah, yeah. That's... Unless I'm really wrong... About my own life...

[00:03:37] And I've got some kind of... I don't know. Unless I'm a piece... I'm an actual piece of shit. Not like... Yeah. A pretend one. It just seems like that is just an endless tunnel that I'm stuck in. It's just shit's happening after shit, yeah. Something shitty, and then something else shitty, and something else shitty. And like... You know how people always say like, oh, bad things happen in threes? No, they don't. You're on what? Like... I don't even know. Six, seven? I don't try and...

[00:04:08] Now it's eight. Yeah. I don't even count, but like... Yeah. It just... It's so hard when you feel so beat down. Yeah. Um... And you just get continually beat down. It's so hard to focus and see things that are good. Yeah. And it becomes harder and harder to see things that are good. Yeah, it's just... That's... Well, I know like what... Last... Our last episode...

[00:04:37] Like, I guess I'm a two, so like... There's... 20% of that that feels like... Maybe it's okay. Like, every minute of every day is in hell. But... Fuck, it just... It feels like it. And... There's more of the bad stuff than the good things. Oh, yeah. And like, we... We do say that, you know, we should try to focus on the good things and celebrate the little wins, but... Those little wins just can't make up. Fuck those wins, man. Like, it just... It's too hard. Yeah. And it just like... I'm... Yeah.

[00:05:05] I'm just in a phase of... Just... Completely destroyed and beat down. And there's just nothing left. Like, my optimism's gone and like... I... I'm... I'm... Cheekily optimistic. Yeah. Yeah, yeah. No, that's fair. I'm not a pessimist, but I'm not an optimist. But... I've... I've lost my optimism. I don't actually... I...

[00:05:34] In my soul... I think rightfully so, too. Yeah, like... In my soul, I just don't feel it. And so, like, I... I genuinely just feel like this is... My life. And... This is what I'm gonna be dealing with for the rest of it. And, like... I'm... Not... Yeah. It's worth it enough that I'm still here. Yeah, yeah, yeah. But, like... I don't know how much more. Yeah, yeah. Yeah. No, so, like...

[00:06:02] You know, last episode, we wanted to go to that financial... The Men and Money event. Yeah. I really did want to go. We were, like... Like, we were fully planning on going. And I reached out to Derek. And, like, yep, we'll see you there. And then... That was that week of the huge storm that we had. Yeah. And so, like, my windshield got busted. So, I had to deal with that shit. And then you got into an accident. You got sideswiped. It wasn't my fault. I got sideswiped. Yeah, you got sideswiped. So... And then I got the shits. So, it's like...

[00:06:32] I couldn't even go. And, like... Yeah. It's just like... Yeah, the things, like, were not lining up for us to go. But, yeah, like, that's just one example. It's like... It's completely out of your control. And, luckily, both of you are okay. But it's just now another thing to deal with on top of your other shit, right? Well, and I just... I feel like my entire fucking life is out of my control. Yeah. It's just been... Pointing... Like, I just... I can't... Like, I...

[00:06:59] There's nothing I could do to change what's happening. Now, you can say you can change how you handle that, how you... Your attitude towards it. To a certain point. Fuck off. Like, no. When you're just bombarded with shit, and it's too much shit... Yep. That you can't... There's nothing you can do to keep it off of you. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Like, you're in the shit. Well, and that's... You can't even celebrate those little good wins, right? Because you're just... You don't have the energy.

[00:07:29] Just no. It physically drains you. Yeah, there's just no... Like, for what? Yeah. Just to get shit on it? Like, I'm out. I'm not. Yeah. No. No, so, I mean, I hope that, you know, some good news are coming your way soon. It isn't, but thanks. Well, I'm an optimist. I know. So, I keep rooting for you, man. And, you know, it's... Things will turn around. Okay. I believe it. So, you don't have to.

[00:07:59] I'm glad you believe that. I believe it for you. Okay. I'll do that. I'm not going to. I'll do that part, yeah. I have lost my ability for the time being to do that. That's fair. And I'm not saying it's forever, but for the first... For inevitable... What? To no end, I'm feeling like this. Yeah. And maybe that changes, maybe it doesn't, but I'm not expecting it to. Yeah. I just can't. Yeah. I don't know. Yeah. That's a fair, very fair assumption.

[00:08:27] It's my honest opinion. Anyways, you? You're definitely a better number than I am, so I'm... That gives me some, like, not hope. I don't have any hope left. Let me rub it in for you. You're... I love you, and I am happy for so many things, and we're going to talk about that today, but... Yeah, we will. This will lead into that. So, again, because of the last... I want to say the last two weeks have been, like, very busy for me, and that was...

[00:08:58] How do I not make this, like, a super long-ass fucking story? But, anyways, I was doing some extra work with my day job. I don't want to really talk about details, but, essentially, we were negotiating on the union side with the company, and that just is not a nine-to-five job. Like, there's lots of wasted time.

[00:09:25] You know, we got together in the morning, got some paperwork done, some... We were... I was there more like an admin, and then, you know, we hand things off to the company, and then we wait, we discuss things, and then wait, wait, wait until they get back to us, and then we're super busy to try to answer things. So, days just have dragged out super long, right? And so, I told this to my wife.

[00:09:49] I'm like, hey, like, they knew months ago that I will be busy in June because the contract ends June 27th, right? And so, like, it's going to be really busy. Or 28th, 26th, whatever. The date was last Friday. But we did not think everything through when we booked our flight. So, I'm going to Europe. Yeah. That's this Thursday. And I...

[00:10:18] To your former home. Yeah, two days from now. We were traveling to Europe, so... But my wife, as a teacher, she works till today. Like, she's actually busy, and we're like, why the fuck did we book our flights right away after, like, Canada Day, you know? Yeah. We usually have time to prep and, like, you know, get the house kind of in order, and like, well, it's just... We like to... Yeah, yeah. And when I say we, my wife likes to leave the house, you know, in a certain way.

[00:10:47] But, anyway, so, like, I was busy. Her end of the year is super busy. Then, you know, kids activities, like, end of the year, there's a presentation, there's this, there's grads, then our goddaughter had a grad. So, like, last week, I left at 6 a.m., and I didn't come home until, like, 9, 10 p.m. every day, like, Monday to Friday. It's a long haul. It was fucking brutal. Now, it was nice, because I went fishing the weekend before, so I kind of, you know, built up a little energy. Well, you got your time. Yeah.

[00:11:16] Like, right back to the fucking crazy scheduling, and so, it's just, I was exhausted. Like, I came home, and like, I could not think. Yeah. I just, like, tried to even get a normal sentence out of my mouth was impossible at the end of the day. And so, that kind of brought me down, but I knew that it's ending. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm.

[00:11:44] And I guess I can officially now say that I've put in my resignation with my day job, and I am quitting my workplace after my vacation. Yeah. It's huge. Which is a big, so, it's been a plan, I would say, in the last five years. Yeah. But it was always just, it was just, like, five years ago, it was a vague. It was a thought. It was a vague. It was a thought. Yeah, yeah, thought. Yeah. Call it a thought. Yeah, perfect.

[00:12:15] Yeah, yeah. And then, you know, then I went to school, and then, well, you know, it's still, I have a secure job with a guaranteed pay and a guaranteed- That's for suckers. Fuck that. Guaranteed, you know, benefits and, like, job security. It's huge, right? And, but that's not everything. And to me, like, I was getting unhappier and unhappier every day. Yeah. And I think, like, our listeners could probably pick up on that. I think so.

[00:12:43] People who listen often would know, like, I'm sure some of them have guessed and made their guesses at what's going on. Yeah. And, like, you could probably pick up on that, but. Yeah. And, and, and so. Also, I understand why you couldn't share that. And I just didn't want, like, my workplace is very, they're also, there's, like, certain security level, and I can't talk about details. It's also professionalism. And that's another, that's the other thing too. That's appropriate. Like. So I didn't want to, and again, like, I'm not.

[00:13:13] I am very thankful for what I have gotten over the years from this company. Like, they've paid me very well. It got, got me where I am today. It wasn't a bad career. Like, it. No, it's just not for me. Like, I know people that, that have been there for 40 plus years and they're like, hey, you know, just come and do my time and that's it. I wish I could do that. Like, like, if that was. I don't think you actually do, but I know what you mean by that. No, no, as in, I just wish, like, my mentality was, like, in that sense that, like, I didn't.

[00:13:43] I'm, well, I'm no different. I can't. Yeah. I just can't do it. I look, I look for excitement. I, I kind of started feeling that I'm like, I always compared like, oh, I'm, I'm the guy that puts on a bottle cap on, uh, on the bottle every day. It's every day the same thing. And I get tired of it. I get like, and maybe this is with my ADHD or whatever. But like, I, like I'm, I can't stay focused for a long time. I need change. I need excitement in my life. Right. And so if something does like a job, like it's my second family.

[00:14:12] Like we spend, you know, more, sometimes more time. Arguably more waking hours than you do with your own family. And so like, if I'm, if that doesn't excite me, if I'm not happy with it, I, what am I doing here? Right. Yeah. And so anyway, so, um, you know, busy, super busy, but I was still said like, Hey, I'm still here. I'm still doing my job. I am dedicating myself to like doing the best I can.

[00:14:38] And then now I am like, well, you're just moving on. I'm done. Yeah. You're moving to a next phase. You're moving to a, you're the shift you're making is not from one of those to another one of those. Cause you're unhappy and you think the grass is greener. No. And that's what I love is like people do that too. Yeah. You can go from X job, putting a bottle cap on to X job where like, Oh, now I handle the bottle and I get paid a little bit more. That's right.

[00:15:07] And some people you're right. Like some people, that's their job. It's the thing. It's the means to everything else they do. Yeah. And no, the world needs piles of those people. And I'm so grateful for those people. Like every day I'm grateful for those people because they're the reason. I get to do what I do. Yep. Um, and I'm so grateful for them and like, they, they want nothing more. They like, they're just happy. Yeah.

[00:15:36] Or, well, I don't know. I won't use that word, but like we need a million of those people in this world. And I'm so grateful for the ones that can do that and feel good about that. And like, you should feel good about that. Yeah. But you weren't at a place where you did. And it was, it was actually, it was making you feel worse. So it, it became, and it wasn't the job. It wasn't the company. It wasn't anything for you.

[00:16:04] It cracked me if I'm wrong, but like it was your own desire to do something different and your own desire to like serve a bigger purpose in your life. And, and again, when I say this, I don't mean it in any disrespectful way, but I felt like I am getting dumber and dumber because I just didn't feel like I can learn more or like develop into something more. I was sure. I'm always looking for that next big thing or, or the next level to like get better at something.

[00:16:34] Right. And I feel like I just outgrown that place. Right. Yeah. I think part of that. Yeah. I think that's mostly true. And, and so, you know, I've, I went to school. It's also just not an environment that worked for you. No, exactly. Like any longer. Yeah. It did. It served a great purpose. A hundred percent. It afforded you a home, a family, a beautiful home, a family, a life. Like it did so many great things for you. Absolutely.

[00:17:03] But also what do people say? Everything has a season. Yeah. Like that season's up. Yeah. That season was up. The seed for that was planted five years ago and that season was slowly coming to an end. And like, yeah. So, um, so with that, all this being said, even though I'm exhausted and like, there's still lots to do before our trip. Um, I am very excited about what's to come. Also shitting my pants for sure. You got way more to do after the trip. I am. Just so you know.

[00:17:32] I am very scared, but now, now I have like for the last six months I was basically working two full-time jobs. Yeah. It felt like it. Yeah. And so now it's time for me to like spread that time and focus on my job and my family. You're still going to work two full-time jobs. It'll just be different. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. And, uh, and not to be like, I'm not trying to maybe, I'm not trying to do that stupid. Oh, you just fucking wait. Like, no, no, no, no. Yeah.

[00:18:00] There's so much beauty and like you're going out on your own. Yeah. Yeah. Can I say that? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. So I'm going to be self-employed. Yeah. And there's so much freedom and so much prison in that. But you'll love, you're going to love both and you're going to, I really believe, I know you so well and like, you're going to love it so much. I think what I'm looking, even when it's awful, it's better.

[00:18:25] I think what I'm looking forward to the most is that when it's awful, it is up to me. It's all up to you. To make, to, to make that change. Your wins are yours and your losses are yours. Exactly. And there's something to that, that is purposeful. Yeah. Yeah. And that's just, that's what I'm like, you know, at, at, uh, at my current job, uh, I'm still employed. So it's my current job. Uh, I, I was very like, there's so many things that like, Oh man, I just, I wish we could

[00:18:53] just do this because like it would save money or time or be more efficient or whatever. Right. And, and just like my power was limited. Yeah. Right. And now it's like, okay, what do I need to do to, okay, I, Oh, I did this and I only made this amount of money. Okay. How can I make more money? What, what else can I do? How else can I grow? How else can I, like it's, it's constant brainstorming. Like I've been doing that now more and more where I'm just like, you know, just even just driving.

[00:19:20] I'm like looking around like, Hey, where can I, where can I put myself in a certain other business? Cause I will be doing the graphic designing and, and some marketing. And, and so like, I'm, I'm constantly thinking, okay, where can I, where can I, uh, improve, you know, myself? And like, you know, sitting down like with you and like, uh, our friend Janiko and just, I don't know if he noticed this, but when you guys kind of go off, I just sit there and let,

[00:19:48] I try to listen because we were off on a tangent the other day. Last time I saw you and him, uh, you guys were going, you didn't say a word. And I was just watching you. I was observing you a little bit and I was just like, Oh no, this is the kind of conversation that Tommy's never heard anyone have. Yeah. And like, it was so good. Like I'm trying to like absorb as much as I can because I'm like, Holy shit. Like this is something that I'm one, I may deal with or somebody else, like maybe a client of mine will deal with it.

[00:20:16] And hopefully maybe I can help my client to, you know, come up with a solution. And so you'll start becoming so aware of how listening, how much you learn from actually just listening. Yeah. And then you'll, you'll have like that specific conversation when we were sitting there at the picnic table, like give it three months and you'll start saying something that you learned from being at that table. Yeah. Yeah.

[00:20:46] And you'll, you'll get back in your car, you'll have a meeting, you'll have a whatever and you'll get back in your car and go, wait a minute. Oh shit. Like I have those, I still have, I, I crave those moments and like there's so much I want to learn something every day. Yeah. Yeah. And whether it's from talking to my customers, talking to my suppliers, my coworkers, my friends, my like colleagues, like whatever you want to call it. I got to learn something every day.

[00:21:15] Cause if I'm not learning something every day, like I'm, I'm doing something wrong. That's right. You'll start to learn what your terms are about like when you know, like, ah shit, I blew it. Yeah. Or I just didn't know. Like there's a lot of different ways to do that. And so you're going to find those things out about yourself. Where do I need to be better? Cause like, fuck, I blew that deal. Why did I blow the deal? Yeah. And you have, um, I don't know.

[00:21:42] You have a pretty good network of support people who actually know, who know, who are very good at the things they do where they do them. So like our friend Janiko, like he's very, very integrated into the tech world, which like is kind of where you're, I'm kind of adjacent. You're in it. You're adjacent or in it. Like, and then you've got like Glenn is a buddy and you got me and you've got like, you've

[00:22:11] got all these people who like have, who have some level of expertise in what they do. And like, as you, as a one man show in your business, maybe this is a good way to put it. I know your business is yours, but I want to tell you this. You're not a one man show. Yeah. It's, this is my inspirational message for today. I hate everything. And like, this means something to me actually.

[00:22:39] And I've never thought of this, but you're not a one man show. You have, you have really smart, capable, special, specialist people in your world that want to see you win. Yeah. They want to see you succeed in this. And like they will, some of those people, myself included, like I will move fucking mountains if I can to help you succeed. Yeah. No, that matters. And I know that.

[00:23:08] In fact, that might actually give me some fucking purpose in my goddamn life. Like, and no, but you're, you're not alone. Yeah. The entrepreneur, there's all, there's this message all the time about like entrepreneurs are alone and you're, you're on an island. You don't have to be, you gotta be humble. It's a community, right? Take things from people. Like if people want to help you, let them fucking help. It's that community mentality. If you think about it, because yeah, like, like look at any, like, like we talked about like the, the, some of the colonies, right? Like, yeah.

[00:23:37] I mean, each and every. That's a whole other story. Yeah. But each and every, like family is its own entity. But like when they need help, they don't necessarily have to do it together just, just by themselves. But there, they get help. And same thing with entrepreneurship. Like, you know, no matter what business world you're in, you rely on making those connections with people because that's, again, it's, it's a, it's a separate, different community.

[00:24:05] But the interesting part that you'll have to watch is, uh, there's a lot of falsehood in that world. Yeah. Yeah. There's. And be careful. And I'll, I'll, I'll, I'll steer you clear of a lot of that. Yeah. But there's a ton of that. Yeah. There's, there's the ones. Yeah. You can spend six hours a day talking about entrepreneurship, but when the fuck are you going to get to work? Yeah. Get the fuck to work. Exactly. Oh, I could take this class. I could talk to this person. I can. Cool.

[00:24:34] You can have coffee with six different people a day and none of you get anything done. That's right. Yeah. Like, that's the thing. Like you need to like, like turn those conversations into actual work. Right. Well, or in, or it's worth enough to learn. Yeah. It's like, oh, I can have meeting. Oh, I have another meeting, another meeting. But is that a meeting or is that? I was just hanging out with Tim. Or is that, well, no, but is that a meeting or is that just delaying what I need to be doing? Yeah. And making me feel good. Is it a fun? It's like a drug. Yeah.

[00:25:04] You can have a million meetings with entrepreneurs. I know. When I, when I told, when I told Glenn that I want to go on my own, he's like, all right, are you ready to like not hang out with your buddies and not possibly go play hockey? And I'm like, yeah, I have to be. And it's not fear. No, but it's, it's the reality. But it is actually the, it is the, it is the reality of what you're going to need to do. Yeah.

[00:25:31] And the weight of that, you haven't felt the weight of that yet. Not yet. The weight of that. I think I felt a little bit. I hope, I hope for you, the weight of that offsets. I hope the weight is heavy enough that you realize how serious it is. I hope so. Cause it's heavy. It really is. And if you don't feel like it's heavy, we got to talk. There's something. Well, you're just, you're wrong. You're calling it in your phone and then you're like, there's something else going on behind

[00:26:00] the scenes, but like the weight of that is extremely heavy. Mm-hmm. But I think, I really believe you're going to love carrying that weight. Yeah. Well, I know my wife's super worried about it. Like. She should be. I think she. You're all worried about it. And, and I, I am worried about it enough that it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, I always think about it. Not to the point where I'm freaking out about it because I can't freak out. Yeah.

[00:26:26] I need to go into this with straight mind that like, yeah, nope, we're just going to be fucking pushing through. Yeah. And making it work. And yeah, I might only have time to take my kid and go watch him take, uh, do take one though or whatever. And then, and then come home and then right back at it. But realize that like being an entrepreneur isn't scary. It's serious. Yeah. Yeah. That's what it is. Yeah. It's just like, you got to do it. It's not scary. It's, it's fucking fun and it's interesting.

[00:26:56] Well, it can be, it can be fun. No, no. There's scary parts of it and like there's fun parts and there's everything, but like, it's not this big fearful fucking thing. It shouldn't be. Yeah. But what it is, is it's serious. It is serious. And your time is about to become way more valuable and important. Yeah. Like way more. It's like, oh, do I sit here and don't waste time? Yeah. Scroll through fucking TikTok video.

[00:27:24] And so that, that was actually one of my things that I've given myself about two weeks ago or sorry, two months ago that I am going to limit the amount of time I am on social media. So I'm not sure if you noticed this, but I tend to send like forward some funny videos. Like I will, I will do like 10 of them at once and then nothing. Well, cause before it was like two, three couple, every few hours. What was it?

[00:27:54] A few, four or five months ago I took a break. Yeah. I have never gone back to it the same. That you were before. I don't know if you've noticed, but when you send me shit, it might be two months. You're missing out on some good stuff. No, but it might be two months, but then all of a sudden I'll take time and I'll go through it all. And I literally do. Yeah. But like, I'm like, okay, I need two hours to go through this cause I just get sent shit and you do too. And everybody else. After I took that break, I just never gave a shit. But yeah, I think last Friday.

[00:28:23] I never gave the same amount of a shit as I used to. Yeah. Last Friday, I think I was, I looked at my Instagram and I believe I had, I want to say about 10 to 12 people that, you know, with any number of fucking. Yeah. And most of them were like four plus, four plus, four plus because I was just like, and I was, and that's like a little, I'm like, okay. Yeah. Like it's, it's, I don't need to look at it right now because I had other shit to do and that was a good, and I want to continue to do that because yeah, like we can, you

[00:28:51] can fall into that, uh, that, uh, spiral. That's why I took the break. Yeah. Cause I was like, I need to change my relationship with this. So most of the time I send you guys stuff or anybody that I sent, uh, there it's when I'm pooping. It's a great time to do that. It's like, that's what, that's what I tried to do. Actually, I was talking to someone the other day and they said, I get my best work done when I'm in the bathroom. Yeah. And I, I said right away, I said, I get my best ideas in the shower.

[00:29:21] Okay. And then I get great work done when I'm in the bathroom. I never tried working. I mean, I don't want to be, I get all my best ideas in the shower. I don't want to bring my laptop in the shower or the bathroom if I don't have to. No, probably don't. Well, yeah, don't do that kind of work. But do other work. No, I'm super, I'm, I'm excited. I'm really excited for you. It's not scary, dude. It's just serious. Yeah. And like, just, it's not a joke. It's your career. Yeah.

[00:29:47] And it's what you wanted and it's what you've been trying to get to for years. Yeah. And so like, I know it's becoming reality. I know. And I'm so excited for you. And like, I want you to be so successful and whatever I can do to help that you have full, and you know this, you have full access to my brain, my contact list, my whatever you want. And like, my network of people, anyone who can, I think might be able to help.

[00:30:14] And that's, you've already, like, you've already helped me so much with the companies, but also like. Yeah, yeah. And like, if you're a person who's a person who's a person who's a person who's a person or you want to be, things change, right? If I'm, if I'm going to start, if I'm just going to go to the pub and just get drunk every day and just hang out with people that do that daily. Yeah, it's fun. I'm going to be, I'm going to probably become. But you'll fail. Yeah, exactly.

[00:30:43] I'm probably going to become a drunk and just, you know. Okay. But that's the thing. Like, I surround myself with, I try to surround myself with successful people that are successful entrepreneurs or that are just successful in life. Yeah, yeah, exactly. Family or they can be successful running a business. Or successful. I might be bad. You know? I might not actually be able to help you at all right now. Yeah. Yeah, no. Yeah, maybe stop taking my advice.

[00:31:13] No, but, but that's the thing. Like, it's just, and again, like when you hang out with these people, what is it that you take away from it, right? Yeah. Do you take away just like, ooh, let's just party. Then I'm never going to move up. Like, sure, that's a fun part of it. Like, you know, like you get to. Sure. But, but again, like I need, I need to, I've had to start listening properly and paying attention to, you know, like I said, the kind of conversations that you guys talk about and like how you just respond to certain things.

[00:31:41] And like, cause I want to, I want to know, I want to, want to know more about it. I want to become better. Yeah. And I want to be able to join a conversation with something valuable instead of just like, well, oh yeah, that's cool. Over time you'll learn, like be in those rooms and listen. And you're doing that. Yeah. And then eventually you can contribute. Then you actually become a leader in those, like it's a process and like, don't rush it. No, it doesn't matter.

[00:32:10] All that actually matters is the success of your business. That's what matters today. So yeah, I am. And if you need to take from all those people wanting to give for, for the time being, take. Yeah. Like we want to help. Yeah. So with all this said, I would say I am an eight. Nice. Fuck yeah. That was a long check in. That's fine.

[00:32:37] This episode is brought to you by OK John Metal Detectors, a proud sponsor of the Quiet Riot Show and celebrating 50 years in business. And OK John Metal Detectors has everything you need to get started. Whether you're brand new or already into it. Fresh air, movement and the thrill of finding something unexpected.

[00:33:06] It does more for your mental health than you think. Visit OK John Metal Detectors dot com. Find all the links below in the description. OK. I'm going on a trip. Yeah. Are you excited? Two days. I know I haven't. I haven't gotten there. I don't get excited either. I just haven't gotten there yet. Sorry. Are you looking forward to it? Yes. That's maybe a better way to put it.

[00:33:33] So to be very fucking honest right now, why I'm looking forward to this trip is not necessarily seeing my family, but spending time with my family. You know, it's been months of grinding and my marriage has taken a good beating. Yep. And we need to revive things. Yep.

[00:34:02] And so I'm really looking forward to that. You know, from past episodes, people might know that I don't get along with my mom the best. If we were... It's rocky. If we spent too much time in the same room together. It can be rocky. Sometimes you get along great. And so last trip we went, it was good because we were separated for more than anything together. So they stayed at the cottage, we stayed at the apartment.

[00:34:30] I was telling a funny story about your last trip to my family. Last trip or two trips ago? Two trips ago. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I was telling a funny story to my wife about that in the last five days. Oh, no. The bad one? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, that was a bad fucking... Anyways, we don't have to... I don't have to... That's over. Well, it's over. Like, sorry, I shouldn't do that. No, but it was bad.

[00:34:56] But again, that was, I think, a point where like I literally had to... I told my mom, I'm like, respect goes both ways. And like, if you don't respect me, then I will not respect you. So what? But yeah, so last trip was good because we were separated. So like, at the end of the day, we went home and we had our time to ourselves. Yeah. So it wasn't like, oh, you're going... Because like, I have to answer to my wife. Yeah. You know? Of course.

[00:35:23] It's me and my wife, we're like, if I'm doing something, how does that affect my wife and my kids? Yep. And if I go out with my buddies and stay out longer, okay, if we're busy the next day, like, I need to be on top of it. And if I'm not, then I will, my wife will let me know. Which I would argue you're not the greatest at in moments. Yep. If I can say something. I have to... To be fair, I am not either. I have to...

[00:35:51] So I'm not calling you out without my own discretion. I think I've... Indiscretion. Over the years, I've gotten better. Yes. Because I know, like, that was a big issue. And so when I want to go out and have fun, I make sure that we don't have plans in the morning. Yeah. Because that way, okay, I can rest, catch up, and then we do stuff.

[00:36:21] Well, also, you're going back to your former home. Yeah. And, like, you know... And, like, you have friends. You have, like, everybody wants to see you. Yeah. And, like, you're fucking Tommy. So, like, you're super social. People love to see you. They want to spend time with you. You're there for a short window. You're trying to get it all in. But that's the nice thing. So, like, when we stayed with my parents the whole time, it was constantly, like, well,

[00:36:49] I'm just going to go out for a couple hours, two, three hours, right? Yeah. And then my mom's like, oh, you're going again? Like, where's my wife? Like, she, you know, we had a busy day with people. So, like, Adriana and... Her battery runs low. Yeah. And so she's just like, okay, I'm just going to, you know, scroll through Facebook or read a book or whatever, recharge. And I'm recharging while I'm there. And I don't have a late night. I come back and then we go on with our next day. Yeah.

[00:37:13] So now I can do that without being guilt tripped into, like, why are we going out again? You know? So, like, it was really nice. I didn't tell my mom that, yeah, what did you do last night? Nah, I came home, just watched some TV and relaxed. I was shit-faced. Yeah. But, like, no, like, but I wasn't even drinking that. I know. I'm just joking. Yeah, yeah. But, like, it was just nice that I, like, because my mom would make a big deal out of it. Yeah. And, like, when we didn't have that, it was really nice to just... Separate spaces is great.

[00:37:42] Oh, and then, you know, in the morning we would get up and, like, we would go out there for breakfast. Like, it's a fucking 10, 15-minute drive. Yeah. Like, okay. Do you rent a car while you're out there? We use my parents' car. Oh, okay. Or sometimes I use my brother's. Okay. My brother has two cars. My niece has, I think, one or two cars. Oh, okay. It's no big deal. But, yeah, so it was just nice that we had that flexibility that, like, just go back,

[00:38:09] sleep in our own space, and then, yeah, then we can go back and spend some time, more time together. And I have no problem doing it as long as I get that break from them, you know? Which is fair. Yeah. And you don't go for a week. Yeah. Like, you go, you're going for a month. Yeah, yeah. It's just sort of... A week, anyone can do a week. It's three weeks. You figure it out. You power through. But you're, like, almost, you're there for almost a month. Yeah. Like, you have to have some normalcy. Yeah. And not just yourself, but, like, your wife, your kids. Well, and we're going on our vacation.

[00:38:38] This is your holiday. So, it's always hard because my parents expect us to be there the whole time. But, like, you know, I have other family. And they're not wrong for... No. They just want your time. That's fine. But, like, my wife also has family. And so, like, when we go see them once. Yeah, okay. And so, like, even when we go once, like, there's comments about it. And I'm just, like... I had to tell, like, a few times my mom that, like, hey, listen, like, you need to chill. Because, like, we're going to see them for two, three days. Yeah.

[00:39:08] And then we don't see them for the rest of the time. Also, your wife's brother is my favorite person this week. He's awesome, man. I love him so much. Yeah, so... Andre, if you listen to the show, you're my fucking favorite person this week. I should actually make him feel better. I don't know either, but, like, he's my favorite person this week. If you guys need a dentist, he's a great dentist. I'm going to give him a shout-out. Avenue Dental, 2027 Portage Avenue. I'm sure they'll take more patients. Oh, dude, he's the best.

[00:39:36] Yeah, he really is a good dentist. He's just actually... He's just the nicest dude. Like, he's... And I asked him, like, before, like, hey, do you want to, like, grow as a business? Because I'm going to be doing some work for him, too. Yeah, yeah. And so I asked him, like, hey, like, any plans? He's like, no, I love the way it is. It's a small family business. Yeah, yeah. So he's like, he doesn't want to turn it into a corporate business. So he's, like, super happy. And everyone gets to choose that.

[00:40:03] And I think I can comfortably say that 99% of his clients are happy. Also, there's only one Andre. Yeah. And so, like, there's only one Andre. Yeah. So, like, yeah, you can expand your business, but, like, then what is it? Yeah. Because, like, there's only one Andre. That's right. Yeah, so he's great. He yanked a fucking broken tooth out of my face the other day. Oh, fuck. I wish I could have been there just like, can I pull it? I should have taken a picture after.

[00:40:32] I saw, like, the tooth. Chunks. Oh, man. It's fucking crazy. Let me pull it. Let me pull it. Anyways. He's not going to see you. I love him. He's been so kind to me. And he's such, like. He's great. You just have a great family. I do. I do. Your family, your in-laws, your mom and dad. Don't go that far. Okay. No. No. I'm going to. I know you don't want to, but like, you're all such kind people. Like, my experience with all of you has been so great. I'm happy. I'm happy. You're all great. Well, you're kind of part of our family.

[00:41:02] Tell your mom I'm going to kiss her on the mouth next time I see her. Okay. Just don't make me kiss her. Didn't I say that last time she was here? I'll tell her. I told her I was going to. Oh, she gave me that food and then I told her I was going to French kiss her. She loved it. I love her. Yeah. My dad didn't care. No, he didn't give a shit. He was watching soccer or football or whatever. No. I'm excited for your trip. It's going to be fun. Yeah. I'm looking forward to it. I'm upset you're leaving.

[00:41:32] I'm going to miss you. I'm having a pretty hard time. I'm going to cry right now. I'm having a pretty tough go. And like, I've been vocal with a couple of people lately. But like, fuck, Tommy's leaving. I know. And that's going to be pretty tough. I'm just a phone call away. I know. This isn't on you. It's nothing. It's just. No, no, no. I don't. I'm giving you a hug. Fuck you. But like, I'm so excited you're going. I'm just like, yeah, selfishly. I'm just like, fuck. Yeah.

[00:42:02] It's going to be. Fucking Tommy's leaving. Well, you're part of my everyday life. Like, you and I share. Oh, gee. I've never cried on this show. There we go. We share some work. We share struggles. We share our wins. We share our fun times together. So I really hope that one day we can do this trip together with both of our families. Oh, man. That'd be so good. Because like, I've taken one of our friends.

[00:42:31] They came for a week to visit in Slovakia. And they had a great time. And we had a great time with them. And we're so happy to share a little bit of our culture with friends, you know. And obviously sharing by just telling stories is different than when you're actually there, right? So I really, I know we're going to do this at some point together. So yeah, it's going to go by fast. But I know like you got some shit going on right now. So fuck. What the fuck?

[00:43:01] We'll have... This is bullshit. We'll have... Cut this out. No. No, I'll miss you. And I'm so happy for you guys. And it's great. Thank you. And like, I hope you have the best time. Because like... Thanks, man. Well, and you're like... Your life's going to look so different when you get home. Yeah. And that's... And like, that's exciting. This is... And that's why I like... I want to reconnect with my wife. I want to reconnect with my kids. Although I don't need to reconnect. I just want to...

[00:43:31] I want to strengthen that connection that we have right now. Like me and Jacob have been very... Like, we have a daily ping pong game going on. He's beating you sometimes. Yeah. I mean, I still think I win 95% of the games. Yeah, that's good. But yeah, he's... Keep it that way. Yeah, he's... I mean, it's getting harder and harder. No, it's... And I'm so excited for you. Like... And I'm excited with Gabby too. Just like doing some things. We want to go on some hikes.

[00:43:59] There's some cool places that we haven't seen yet. Yeah. And so we want to do that. It'll also give you some forced time with your teenage daughter. Yeah. Where like, she has to hang out with you. Yeah, exactly. Yeah. That's awesome. Not that she doesn't want to, but like teenagers... They don't want to hang out with us. Yeah. Well, they'd rather hang out with somebody else. Yeah. But like... Yeah. And then... But the important thing is to reconnect with my wife because yeah, the next year or two is going to be difficult and... Don't put a time on it.

[00:44:29] Just this next phase is going to be a different challenge. The beginning of the next phase. Yeah. It's just going to be a different challenge. And so we just need to go into this with a strong connection where our communication is good and we talk about our struggles. Like, we've been very good, but... But we've been only talking about it and now we need to actually work on like, okay, if this is what's happening, this is what's bothering me, okay, how can we do this without

[00:44:58] affecting like anything else around us, right? Just remember your team. Yeah. Yeah. But first and foremost, you and her, more important than the kids, more important than your friends, more important than your business. Yeah. You and her are a team. Yeah. And like, that is the most important thing. Yeah. Yeah. So, you know, that's why after this show, I'm kicking you out because I still have shit done at work to do. I'm already almost out the door.

[00:45:20] But yeah, for our listeners, we are going to be taking the summer break because one, I'm gone. Two, we're just busy. Yeah. But we will restart this again in September. Um, couple, couple, couple changes. Um, I'm going to, I'm going to have a better place to put my drink. Yeah. Yeah. We're going to change, change the studio a little bit. We're going to maybe rebrand.

[00:45:49] I'm working on a rebranding, working on some, some merch too. Um, and I have, I've started an event like planning an event already. Um, and yeah, I'm just looking forward to like my future with, with business, with this podcast. I'll, I'll have more time to focus on the podcast too, a little bit, which can be part, is part of my business too. So I'm just overall like excited, scared, but excited.

[00:46:18] I'm so, I'm more excited than scared. I'm so excited for you. So yeah. Uh, hope you guys have a great summer. Um, stick around. Yeah. You can still message us or whatever on Instagram or voicemails. We'll still see that while we're taking time off. Absolutely. And if you message us on Instagram, we'll respond or we'll talk and whatever. Like we're not looking to disappear into the shadows, but we just won't be recording. Yep.

[00:46:43] But yeah, I'm, we'll see what my life looks like coming out of this break. On that note, peace out. Later. Thanks for tuning in to this episode of the quiet riot show. [00:49:16] You're talking about German accents, but, uh, have you ever seen that actor, uh, Christopher Waltz? Christopher Waltz. He's unbelievable. Uh, he's the guy who played that, uh, played like the main Nazi guy in Inglourious Bastards. Oh yeah, yeah, yeah. Oh, he's fantastic. Fantastic. Fan fucking tastic. And he did an episode of comedians in cars getting coffee. Oh, okay.

[00:49:45] He's just the most loved. I don't think it's a German. I don't know what he has for an accent. Yeah, I don't know. Yeah, he's, he's very good. He's phenomenal. Yeah, yeah. He's a great actor. It's unbelievable. And then there's this show I've been meaning to watch. I just keep seeing clips, but I haven't watched it. Okay. It's that mythical kitchen show where they do people's last meal. Okay. And then it's put on by, uh, First We Feast network.

[00:50:10] Oh, so it's like, oh, like somebody from thousands of years ago, this, apparently this was their last meal. No, no, it's, he brings on, he, it's, he brings on, and the interviewer is every bit as good as Sean from Hot Ones and he brings people on, he gets their last meal menu. Okay. And then they eat their last meal and he asks them questions and it's an interview thing. Okay. It's phenomenal. The guy who hosts it is great.

[00:50:39] His questions are so good. It's part of that Hot Ones family. Yeah, yeah, yeah. So it would have to be. Okay. Yeah. Um, but I've been watching, I see, keep seeing clips, but I've never watched a full episode, which I really need to do cause he's had some great guests. Okay. He had Johnny Knoxville on, he had Christopher Waltz on, which is like, I'll watch, honestly, I would watch hours of people just even interviewing Christopher Waltz. Like he's so smart. He's so good.

[00:51:07] He's, he's not full of his own shit. Yeah. Like he's just, he's funny, like genuinely really funny, but he's so calm and so proud. Like I just fucking love him. There are so many great actors that I don't think they get enough recognition, uh, because they didn't play in a blockbuster movie or if they did, they didn't play like the main character. But like, you know, like there's Gladiator, um, uh, Joaquin Phoenix should have, he should have gotten a fucking Oscar.

[00:51:36] Like Russell Crowe did a great job. Yeah. Sure. But Joaquin Phoenix, well, and Joaquin Phoenix is another one of those like unbelievable, he's a fucking weird dude. Yeah. Call him what you want. But you have to be to do what he's done. Yeah. And, and so like, same thing, like he played Johnny Cash, right? Yeah. Like a fantastic role. Yeah. Like he, like they actually turn into that Joker. He was phenomenal as Joker. Like when people complain about Joker, I'm like, are you fucking kidding me?

[00:52:05] Like, I haven't seen the second Joker with him. It wasn't as good. But apparently it wasn't supposed to be. Yeah. It's cause they're taking, have you read anything about that? Yeah. Like they kind of made it shitty on purpose. Yeah. In a way. Because the, the first one was just to, to me, the first one is about like truly like dealing with mental illness. Oh dude, that one was so sad. Because it's like when you're already like feel beat down because of your, any condition that you have.

[00:52:32] And now people just don't know that and they fucking beat you down even further. Man, that movie. It takes you to that fucking crazy level. Right. That movie was so sad. Yeah. And so good. And the second one was, I need to watch it actually. I liked it. I enjoyed it, but it was, yeah, it was, um, it was also more of a musical. It was supposed to be this week. Like it was. And I personally hate musicals. I think they did everything with that movie. They were supposed, they wanted to.

[00:53:00] And I think they knew that people wouldn't love it. Yeah. But I think they did it anyways. And I can appreciate that because it was like supposed to be what I've read some articles on it and whatever. And like, it was kind of supposed to be shitty and people weren't supposed to like it to make the movie they wanted to make. I don't know. I'm not. I mean to that, like, but anyways, you said German accent. Then I got on this whole Christopher Waltz thing, but speaking of German accents, do you know who Flula Borg is? No.

[00:53:30] Flula Borg. So he also played in some movies now because he became popular on YouTube. Okay. Um, I gotta show you this one. I'm probably not gonna, I don't think I'm gonna keep any of this in there, but. What? Some of it you need to. Maybe. Why not? Yeah, it's a good conversation, but like. No? So this guy, he just, he just went on rants and then recorded himself. He talks about fighting.

[00:54:03] Yeah, with my legs. And I was walking this morning, yeah, around here. And I see two, two guys, two guys. They are, I think they are hobos. Hobos. You know. Is he actually German? Okay. And they are making an orc. You know, fight, fight, fight. Not with fizzies, with mouths, mousies. Just very rude and things. You've never seen this? I love this. One man say, man, suck my d***.

[00:54:43] Just making no stick. Why do you say this? This is a silly, this is a silly endanger. You are saying to the man, listen, you, we are not friends. We have made establish of this from all of these argumentatings prior. But, please now take my most valuable sensitivity. I've always wondered about that. It have no protection. It have no helmet or something.

[00:55:11] No, it's just flopsies and sensitivity. Please take it. Because we are not friends. What? And place it inside now a hole of you that is owning many, many objects for crunching and destruction. Please. I trust you. For zero reasons. Also, we are fighting. But no. I would like this. You to take my pee-pee, please. And treat it like a lollipop. That's what I've requested here.

[00:55:41] Treat it like a lollipop. Of course you shall do this. You shall definitely not treat it like a hamburger. Like a hamburger. No. No. What? Of course. Of course this man shall make your pee-pee into a luncheon. Although I shall not be nice and make it a lollipop. He do not like you. He's not your friend. Do not give this man your pee-pee. It's a hamburger. It's a vocal for this person. It's a vocal. Or a Big Mac.

[00:56:11] Man, that's pretty funny. And he's got a bunch of videos like this. I've always, I've thought that before. But when you tell someone to suck your dick, it's like, I don't think that's a good idea. Right. Anyways.
